Not a Lot, But It's My Life!

One of my favorite lines from the Pixar animated movie A Bug's Life is when the Queen (voiced by the amazing Phyllis Diller) says, "That's our lot in life.  It's not a lot, but it's our life!"  That's how I feel about my own life sometimes.  It's not really a lot, but it's mine I guess.

Wanna hear about my not-so-exciting life?
  • I've decided not to go to the Art Institute of Salt Lake City.  It just didn't feel right.  So I'm just focusing on work for the rest of the summer, and possibly going a different route at the Utah Valley University right here in Orem.  It's super duper close and I'm thinking I might major in Graphic Design and maybe minor in English.  I'm sure my poor high school guidance counselor is sick and tired of sending my transcripts everywhere!
  • Mama Kesler has recently informed us that we are not allowed to move out until January.  And here I was worried that we were overstaying our welcome!
  • Brian is currently working nights at Vivint and is considering getting a day job on top of that.  He hopes to get a job at Kneaders since he has such a passion for cooking/baking.  He also worked there a long time ago and knows the management.
  • I worked my first usher shift at the theater this past Sunday.  Normally I'm a concessionist, so I was definitely out of my comfort zone.  Basically an usher sweeps and cleans up people's garbage for eight hours straight.  Not really my cup of tea.  At the end of the day I was told by a manager that I was a horrible usher and that they wouldn't schedule me as an usher again.  I think they might have been joking about the "horrible" part... but I sorta felt insulted anyway.  I decided to go home and be grouchy all night.  Poor Brian.
  • Brian's dad and sister Courtney have been gone all week at a softball tournament in Colorado.  Brian's other sister Amy went to Park City for a couple of days as well.  So it's been pretty quiet around the house.
  • The book I'm writing is progressing slowly but I'm in no hurry.  I have about 7,000 words now, which I'm pretty proud of.  If a picture is worth a thousand words, I have seven pictures!!
  • My brother Daniel turns 20 this month.  It's my mom's birthday this month as well, but I'll be nice and leave her age out of this...
  • Most of my social life involves watching movies at the place I work with friends from work!  I just can't seem to escape that place!  But thanks Yasuko, Sydney, Katie, Michelle and Wes for watching movies with me!
  • I just found out that our theater is decorating for the Harry Potter midnight showing with floating candles and house crests and stuff!  Isn't that awesome?
  • There are a lot of new people at the theater now.  I heard this kid named Caleb talking about doing musicals with Acting Up so I asked, "Do you know Amy Kesler?"  His eyes lit up and he said, "Yeah, I do!  She's awesome!  Are you dating her?"  I glanced over at my friend Katie and we both started laughing.  Poor Caleb just looked confused, so I cleared things up for him.  "Actually, I'm engaged to her brother Brian."  Luckily he wasn't too embarrassed.
  • I didn't have a single pair of shorts so I went with my friend Wes to the mall to buy some.  I don't know if you've tried to buy shorts at the mall in a while... but they are really expensive!!  Like $45 - $80!  On a side note, jeans can be found super cheap right now.  I got a pair of black jeans at the Gap for only $15!  Oh, and want to hear something fabulous?  I bought a size 28 waist!  I'm gettin' so skinny!  Anyway, I ended up just making some shorts from an old pair of jeans.  They look pretty awesome if I do say so myself!
  • My Chase credit card and Brian's Capital One card are both completely paid off!  Now all we have are our Wells Fargo cards.  If the budget goes as planned, we should have it all gone by the end of August.
  • Speaking of August, we are going to Disneyland with Brian's family on August 11th-14th.  We already have enough saved to go!

Haha! You seem to have a lot in your life! I love Disneyland, I was just there in April (which doesn't really qualify as "just there" but it feels like I was). I find that bit with Caleb pretty funny :D
